Friday, March 25, 2005 ::: Good Friday like an assassin looking at its victim asking for the victim's forgiveness paying tribute sing out loud i was speechless. a sudden realization that this actually happened some 2000 years ago it's not some kind of fairy tale it actually happened and it's not just history 2000 years later when you are being asked "where were you at that time?" "what would you have done?" you know that this is not a distant irrelevant account of details. a time for reflection too much to feel sorry for too much to ask for He wants the minimal from us yet we want the most from Him He gave us everything what did we give in return? a thought or two - so human in nature "but this is reality" I say an excuse for our devils inside, from our devils inside lost and found in the refuge could mean found and lost in the outside world. *** this world is a contradicting one Avril Lavigne's gig is obviously falling on the wrong day tickets in hand, as the ferry dock, the giant HKCEC is glowing in the dark in a very cool velvet as we enter the lobby together with the crowd, escalator after another, that's when the excitement builds up. Pointless bantering and star-spotting in the hall. Then the lights go out 45 minutes after 8. Scream! The intro track starts. More screaming. She's on stage! Then it's a 70 minute roller coaster ride. Super cool atmosphere, the crowd all standing up and singing and actually reacting. She belted out all the songs almost non stop. Starting off with He Wasn't was cool, then immediately followed by My Happy Ending. Probably too soon. She did some of my favorites like Nobody's Home (LOVE THAT TRACK!), Together, Take Me Away, Losing Grip, Sk8er Boi, Complicated, Unwanted, Mobile... some tracks are horrible at first listen but great when performed live. But she missed out Anything but Ordinary, My World, Fall to Pieces and Naked. Overall a great gig, she sings better than I expected, can't believe her voice's actually OK after touring for so long, and her band is OK too. She actually played drums on a blur song they covered. She also played piano on 2 numbers. Lightings were surprisingly well designed. Security guards understanding enough to let us stand. But 70 minute is simply too short, for an artist with 2 albums out. Didn't take long to belt out all 19 songs. Tired but wanting for more, she left and the stage guys started packing. She didn't say a word to the audience. Weird. Anyway. Easter Holiday. Study weekend. same thing. ::: posted by Wings at 3/25/2005 10:31:00 PM
